Important Travel Advice
- All visitors must drive to the conditions and ensure they are fully prepared.
- Inform a responsible person of your travel plans and expected return, including who to contact if you fail to check in
- Carry multiple forms of communication, such as a satellite phone, personal locator beacon/tracker, UHF radio, or Starlink
- Have appropriate recovery equipment and know how to use it
- Avoid driving through floodwaters or muddy areas — if unsure, exit your vehicle and assess the surface first (note: many vehicles become bogged when attempting to bypass muddy patches)
- Stay on the track
- Remain with your vehicle if you become stuck
- Reduce tyre pressure when travelling on gravel roads — this improves comfort and helps minimise damage to road surfaces
