Part closure of Mount Remarkable National Park

Mount Remark­able Nation­al Park con­tin­ues its steady recov­ery after the Feb­ru­ary 2025 Wilm­ing­ton fire.

What’s open:

  • Key hubs – Alli­ga­tor Gorge, Mam­bray Creek, Mel­rose and Willowie
  • Walk­ing – Mount Remark­able Sum­mit Hike, Hid­den Gorge Hike, Black Range Trek, Mon­i­tor Loop, The Nar­rows Hike, all re-opened man­age­ment tracks and the open sec­tions of the Hey­sen Trail
  • Rid­ing – every des­ig­nat­ed MTB trail, includ­ing the 38 km Remark­able Epic Trail and the Wil­lowie singletracks
  • Camp­ing – Mam­bray Creek and Baroo­ta Ruins camp­grounds plus most back­pack sites; Stony Creek is now avail­able (Longhill and Eagle­hawk remain closed)
  • Facil­i­ties – hot-water show­ers, flush­ing toi­lets and camp kitchen at Mam­bray Creek; toi­lets, pic­nic tables and BBQs at Mel­rose, Wil­lowie, Mam­bray Creek and Blue Gum Flat; drink­ing water at Mam­bray Creek

  • North­ern end of the Alli­ga­tor Gorge Hike (includ­ing The Terraces)
  • Longhill and Eagle­hawk back­pack­er campsites
  • Ali Look­out Walk and look­out platform
  • Alli­ga­tor Lodge
