Part closure of Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park

Due to recent heavy rains Bun­yeroo Gorge Road and Brachi­na Gorge Road with­in Ikara-Flinders Ranges Nation­al Park remain closed pend­ing repair works. Creeks in the Pound are still flow­ing and con­sid­ered dan­ger­ous to cross. 

Areas cur­rent­ly open with­in the park are:

  • Appealin­na Ruins
  • Arka­roo Rock,
  • Spir­it of Endurance Trail
  • Wilka­w­il­l­i­na Gorge Hike and the walk from the Wilpe­na Vis­i­tor Cen­tre to the Old Wilpe­na Homestead. 
  • The out­side trail to St Mary Peak and the Mt Ohlssen Bagge hike are open but care should be tak­en to avoid loose rocks and minor erosion.
  • The walk­ing trail into Wilpe­na Pound is open up to the vehi­cle turn around shel­ter, but care needs to be tak­en at some of the wash-out areas. 
  • The Wilpe­na Resort is open and oth­er walk­ing trails will be re-opened as the water lev­els recede and are con­sid­ered safe.
