Part closure of Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park
Published: 28 August 2026
Due to recent heavy rains Bunyeroo Gorge Road and Brachina Gorge Road within Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park remain closed pending repair works. Creeks in the Pound are still flowing and considered dangerous to cross.
Areas currently open within the park are:
- Appealinna Ruins
- Arkaroo Rock,
- Spirit of Endurance Trail
- Wilkawillina Gorge Hike and the walk from the Wilpena Visitor Centre to the Old Wilpena Homestead.
- The outside trail to St Mary Peak and the Mt Ohlssen Bagge hike are open but care should be taken to avoid loose rocks and minor erosion.
- The walking trail into Wilpena Pound is open up to the vehicle turn around shelter, but care needs to be taken at some of the wash-out areas.
- The Wilpena Resort is open and other walking trails will be re-opened as the water levels recede and are considered safe.
