Part closure of Chowilla Game Reserve

Please be advised that the Depart­ment for Envi­ron­ment and Water will be com­menc­ing infra­struc­ture works at Chow­illa Game Reserve from18 May 2026, run­ning through until 30 Novem­ber 2026.

Works will include the con­struc­tion of 5 new reg­u­la­tors and upgrades to 5 exist­ing struc­tures. These works will improve flood­plain con­nec­tiv­i­ty and man­age­ment of envi­ron­men­tal water­ing, as well as pro­vide greater envi­ron­men­tal ben­e­fits when receiv­ing high­er flows along the SA Riv­er Murray.

As a result of these works, parts of the Chow­illa Game Reserve will be closed to the gen­er­al pub­lic, includ­ing camp­sites 14 – 32, Foleys Camp­ground and the Scab Inspec­tors Hut. See the map of clo­sure areas here.
