What event spaces can I book?
Belair National Park has bookable picnic grounds, heritage pavilions, sports ovals and tennis courts to suit different events and group sizes. By booking in advance, you can skip the early start and have peace of mind knowing your space will be ready and waiting for you on the day.
The park can be a setting for:

What event spaces don’t need bookings?
If you’re planning something smaller and more informal, Belair National Park has several informal picnic areas that don’t have a facility hire fee. You’ll find free picnic tables and barbecues near the Adventure Playground, Playford Lake and between Willows and Karka Pavilion.
There is no facility hire fee for these areas, although park entry fees will still apply if entering by car.

Government Farm Area 1 Picnic Ground:
Capacity 40 people under shelter, plus additional space across tennis courts 57 and 58
Government Farm Area 2 Picnic Ground:
Capacity 30 people under shelter, plus additional space across tennis courts 57 and 58
Joseph Fisher Picnic Ground:
Capacity 30 people under shelter, 50 people on grassed area
Karka Picnic Ground
Capacity: 100 people
Long Gully Picnic Ground
Capacity: 100 people
Pines Area 1 Picnic Ground
Capacity: 30 people
Pines Area 2 Picnic Ground
Capacity: 40 people
Walnut Paddock Picnic Ground
Capacity: 30 people
Willows Picnic Ground
Capacity: 150 people
Pavilions
Good for: Weddings, workshops and larger gatherings
Features: Enclosed heritage spaces, tables, power and toilets
Karka Pavilion
Capacity: 100 inside, 200 on grassed area.
Main Pavilion
Capacity: 100 inside (can be hired in conjunction with the Main Oval)
Ovals
Good for: Sporting and large community events
Features: Large grassed areas, parking and nearby facilities
Main Oval
Capacity: 200 on grassed area
Gums Oval 1 (half oval)
Capacity: 30 under shelter and 150 on grassed area
Gums Oval 2 (half oval)
Capacity: 40 under shelter and 150 on grassed area
Gums Oval (full oval)
Capacity: 70 under shelter and 200 on grassed area
Tennis courts
Good for: Sporting events and social gatherings
Features: Bookable courts surrounded by bushland
There are over 20 tennis courts to choose from, with most offering shelters suitable for 6 – 10 people, plus tennis court area

Visit before you choose your venue
Belair National Park is large, and photos don’t always show how each venue relates to nearby roads, parking, toilets and facilities.
If you can, visit before booking. Walk around the spaces you’re considering, check the surroundings and facilities, take a few photos and picture how your event could work on the day.
What to know before holding an event at Belair National Park
Can I use a barbecue?
Wood, coal and solid fuel fires are prohibited throughout the year. Gas and liquid fuel fires are permitted in designated areas only, other than on days of Total Fire Ban. On days of Total Fire Ban, fixed barbecues throughout the park will be turned off and portable barbecues will not be permitted.
Could the park close because of fire danger?
Yes. Belair National Park is closed on days of Catastrophic Fire Danger and may also close on days of Extreme Fire Danger. Check Park Closures & Alerts and fire conditions before your event and consider having a backup plan.
Are there bins?
No. There are no rubbish bins in the park, so come prepared to take all rubbish with you when you leave.
Do I need permission?
Some events require formal permission. This can include events involving loudspeakers, competitions, fundraising, commercial activities or structures such as marquees, signage, portable toilets and food vans. Check the event agreement requirements before you start planning.
If your event needs an event agreement, submit your application at least 8 weeks before your event to allow enough time for assessment.
Are accessible facilities available?
Accessible toilets and facilities are available at several event locations across the park. Check your preferred venue before booking.
How to book an event at Belair National Park
1. Choose your venue
Compare Belair National Park’s bookable picnic grounds, pavilions, ovals and tennis courts to find one that suits your group size and event.
2. Check whether your event needs an agreement or additional approvals
Review the event agreement requirements and apply at least 8 weeks in advance if approval is needed.
3. Check availability and book online
Select your date and preferred facility. Available venues will display a Book now option.
4. Plan ahead
Facilities can be booked up to 12 months in advance, and some popular facilities book out up to six months ahead.
