When and where is the event?

The event begins at 10am on Fri­day 5 July, 2024.

It’s being held at Flinders Chase Nation­al Park Vis­i­tor Cen­tre, South Coast Rd, Flinders Chase Nation­al Park, Kan­ga­roo Island.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive by 9.45am to set­tle in before the event starts at 10am.

What should I wear?

The event will be held both indoors and out­doors. Smart casu­al attire is rec­om­mend­ed, and please wear com­fort­able shoes suit­able for walk­ing. Win­ter weath­er on Kan­ga­roo Island can be unpre­dictable so please bring an umbrel­la or jack­et in case of inclement weather.

Will food and bev­er­ages be available?

Light refresh­ments will be pro­vid­ed dur­ing the event. The new café at the vis­i­tor cen­tre will also be open for addi­tion­al purchases.

How long will the event last?

The offi­cial pro­gram will con­clude by 11.45am. Atten­dees are wel­come to stay and explore the vis­i­tor cen­tre and the park at their leisure.

Get­ting there and accommodation

How do I get to Kan­ga­roo Island?

You can reach Kan­ga­roo Island by fer­ry from Cape Jervis or by flight from Ade­laide Air­port. Both options pro­vide reg­u­lar ser­vices. Please note no com­mer­cial flight will get you to KI in time for the event on the day, you will need to trav­el over the after­noon before. Fer­ry book­ings are lim­it­ed and to get to the event in time you will need to have an ear­ly start or trav­el over the after­noon before. If you have dif­fi­cul­ty, please check with our Kingscote staff on 8553 4444 in case there is avail­abil­i­ty with the car reser­va­tions that we have pre-booked.

How long does it take to dri­ve to Flinders Chase Nation­al Park?

It takes about 1.25 hours to dri­ve from Kingscote Air­port to the Flinders Chase Nation­al Park Vis­i­tor Cen­tre and about 1.75 hours from the fer­ry ter­mi­nal at Penneshaw.

Is accom­mo­da­tion avail­able nearby?

There are sev­er­al accom­mo­da­tion options on Kan­ga­roo Island, rang­ing from hotels and motels to bed and break­fasts and hol­i­day rentals. Book your accom­mo­da­tion in advance as avail­abil­i­ty is limited.

Is park­ing avail­able at the event?

Yes, park­ing is avail­able at the vis­i­tor cen­tre. Please fol­low the sig­nage for park­ing upon arrival.

Acces­si­bil­i­ty and facilities

Is the vis­i­tor cen­tre accessible?

Yes, the vis­i­tor cen­tre has been designed to be acces­si­ble, with ramps, acces­si­ble toi­lets, and des­ig­nat­ed park­ing spaces.
