Partial Closure of Ocean Beach in Coorong National Park
To protect the hooded plover, the ocean beach north of Tea Tree Crossing is closed to vehicles from 24 October to 24 December every year. This closure applies to the beach from Tea Tree Crossing to the Murray Mouth.
The hooded plover is a vulnerable beach nesting bird species. Temporarily closing the section of beach to vehicle traffic during their breeding season improves their breeding success.
The ocean beach south of Tea Tree Crossing remains open to vehicles.
