The Nature Play SA team has been work­ing tire­less­ly to bring you this beau­ti­ful guide filled with infor­ma­tion, strate­gies and prac­ti­cal ideas to help chil­dren and fam­i­lies adapt to social dis­tanc­ing and self-iso­la­tion measures.

Fam­i­ly, Nature and COVID-19 has a strong focus on nur­tur­ing the men­tal health and well­be­ing of fam­i­lies, includ­ing pro­vid­ing acces­si­ble, nature-based meth­ods that can be prac­ticed at home, your neigh­bour­hood and near­by nature.

We’ve worked with Google to film more than 600km of walk­ing trails, park roads, camp­grounds and water­ways in some of our most beau­ti­ful places. Click to see what the parks offer and the avail­able facil­i­ties before you go. This is an espe­cial­ly great tool if you have acces­si­bil­i­ty needs, are vis­it­ing with peo­ple of vary­ing ages or fit­ness lev­els or are push­ing a pram and want to view a trail before leav­ing home.

Learn­ing in nature vir­tu­al tour

These vir­tu­al tours have been cre­at­ed as a resource for teach­ers to assist with out­door learn­ing. It can be used before and after vis­it­ing parks, and can even be used by stu­dents in the classroom. 

The tours com­ple­ment a ​‘learn­ing in nature’ pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment (PD) ses­sions for teach­ers and it con­tains a num­ber of activ­i­ty stops based around envi­ron­men­tal and sus­tain­abil­i­ty learn­ing con­cepts tied to the cur­ricu­lum. This vir­tu­al tour also con­tains addi­tion­al infor­ma­tion about plants, ani­mals, learn­ing ideas and links to addi­tion­al edu­ca­tion­al resources.
