Nature Play SA and National Parks SA have joined together to provide a range of fun and free events to be held at various locations within the magnificent Onkaparinga River National Park and Recreation Park throughout the month of August. Whether you are a regular to this park or want to visit of the first time, come along – there is something for everyone!
What's on
Plant at the camp
Date: Sunday 13 August
Time: 10:30am - 2:00pm
Join the rangers and the Friends of Onkaparinga Park for a planting day at the new campground. This is a great opportunity to see the new facilities while supporting the work of the rangers and friends by helping revegetate the area in preparation for a spring opening.
This event is suitable for the whole family and training will be given. Lunch will be provided.
Ranger guided walk
Date: Sunday 27 August
Time: 9:30am - 12:30pm
AND
Date: Sunday 27 August
Time: 1:30pm - 4:30pm
Join the rangers on a guided walk of the new trail network at Onkaparinga River National Park. The walk will follow the new trails and visit the new Punchbowl lookout with incredible views across the national park. During the walk, the rangers will share their in-depth knowledge with you.
Climb and abseil adventure days

Sunday 20 August, 9.00am–12.00pm & 1.00pm–4.00pm
Saturday 26 August, 9.00am–12.00pm & 1.00 pm–4.00pm
Come and join the qualified climbing instructors from Outgrow on a family adventure climb and abseil at Onkaparinga Gorge. No climbing experience is required and all safety equipment and tuition will be provided on the day. The sessions are open to children aged 8 and above.
